DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS by JESSICA SEINFELD Deceptively Delicious is a cookbook every mother needs to own. Jessica Seinfeld (wife of famous comedian Jerry Seinfeld) has developed recipes to help those fussy little eaters eat their daily intake of necessary vegetables without even realizing that they are eating them. In this recipe book you will find everything from Applesauce Muffins with Butternut Squash and Carrots, Scrambled Eggs with Cauliflower, to Banana Bread with Cauliflower and Chicken Nuggets with Broccoli and Spinach. Jessica tried and tested all the recipes on her own children and husband. The food was thoroughly enjoyed and they all were completely deceived. Deceptively Delicious is a godsend for all parents who want healthy kids, peaceful family meals – those who never again want to say: “Eat your vegetables!” CHASING THE DREAM by CLINTON VAN DER BERG Chasing the Dream is an uplifting story of how one man moved beyond the narrow margins of his sport to become an iconic South African figure. Ryk Neethling is an inspiration to all South Africans young and old. The biography tells of his time in the US to pursue his Olympic dream, his struggle with his Afrikaner identity, his family’s struggle with his sister's cancer, of how he rejected a multimillion-dollar offer to swim for another country - and of course the triumph and experience of winning gold in the Athens Olympics in 2004. Ryk is a fiercely determined boy from Bloemfontein who overcame great odds to reach Olympic glory and to become the hero of a nation. This is a very inspirational read. MARLEY AND ME by JOHN GROGAN Marley and Me, soon to be made into a major motion picture, featuring Luke Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wriggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same. Marley quickly grew into a barreling, oversized Labrador retriever. He is incredibly naughty, crashing through screen doors and stealing women's undergarments. Obedience school does not go down well - Marley is expelled - and yet his heart is pure, his love and loyalty, boundless. A dog like no other, even when his family is at its wit's end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms. THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS by JOHN BOYNE The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is by far one of my all time favourites, and soon to be a major movie. The blurb on the back of the book reads that the story is very difficult to describe and that it is important that you start to read without knowing what it is about. However, I shall provide a small clue: set in World War II, it tells the story of Bruno, a young nine year old boy who develops a very unlikely friendship with a boy of similar age, who stays on the other side of a fence. To say anymore will give the story away, but this is a must read for anybody aged 5 to 100.
