TWILIGHT by Stephanie Meyer. Twilight, originally published by a Christian publisher has now become a world wide phenomena among teenage girls. It tells the story of 17 year old Bella who leaves her sunny home state to live with her father in small rainy town, Forks. Here she meets Edward Cullen, who is the most beautiful 'human' she has ever laid her eyes on. He seems to be able to move at great speed and have extra-ordinary strength. She just can't put her finger on what it might be.... This is a supernatural romance which will be enjoyed by both adults and teenagers alike. ROYAL DOG by Lesley Cawood and illustrated by Rachel Main. Royal Dog is set in Port Elizabeth and it tells the story of two dogs, Tara and Sheba who live with their Gogo. Tara hears people saying she looks like a corgi and sees a poster of the Queen of England with her Corgi. She decides to find a South African queen with a palace that she can live in. This is a truly delightful book for children of all ages. WINGS OVER NOORSVELD AND OTHER KAROO STORIES by Twinks Savage and illustrated by Alexandra Urquhart. Written by another local, the book consists of a number of different tales about family members who live in and around Angora, a farm in the Jansenville District. Twinks is a brilliant story teller, and brings the characters to life in this beautifully illustrated book. THREE FRIENDS AND A TAXI by Maryanne Bester, illustrated by Shayle Bester. This is a tale that was first told by a local guide in a taxi in the islands on the Comores, and has been passed across Africa to South Africa. Sheep, Goat and Dog all tell about their different experiences with a classic South African taxi journey. It is an inspiring story that belongs to all of Africa and its people.
